Florida Suncoast Orchids is owned by Jim Roberts, a leader in the growing orchid industry of Florida. They strive to grow and sell the best quality orchid plants for all customers and to build a lasting reputation in the industry as one of the best.

During his college days in Northfield, Minnesota, he was in charge of the St.Olaf greenhouse and its repository of orchids; he knew a little about plants but read everything he could get his hands on. In St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, he learned much about growing orchids in an arid tropical environment, the native species, and won his first AOS award.

Three years later, he moved back to Minnesota, where he learned that orchids could be grown quite successfully in an oppressive environment of a house surrounded by ice and snow. He had the opportunity to travel around the United States, Europe, and Hawaii for his career, visiting major orchid nurseries. During that time, he turned his avid hobby into a small business.

In 2001, he moved to Florida with a small collection of plants, and the dream of operating an orchid nursery became a reality. Florida Suncoast Orchids grow their beauties in three gutter-connected greenhouses encompassing 10,000 square feet of growing space.
